They captivated a packed audience with their performance of traditional, classical, ethnic and popular Christmas songs and supported the work of The Hope Center at Pullen. For thirty-four years, The Oakwood Waits, adorned in authentic 1840’s Victorian attire, have regaled audiences with their harmonious cappella songs. Oakwood Waits Holiday Benefit ConcertThanks to The Oakwood Waits for performing this festive Christmas season benefit concert on Sunday, December 10, at Pullen Memorial Baptist Church. Following the screening, Julia Lee, Guardian Ad Litem and Board Chair of Wake Up Wake County facilitated a panel on foster youth in Wake County and programs offered by The Hope Center featuring Mellonnee Kennedy, Guardian Ad Litem Attorney Advocate, Meredith Yuckman, Program Coordinator, Kelliann Miranda, Director of Transition Programs and Jadie Baldwin-Hamm, SAFEchild Parenting Coordinator, at The Hope Center at Pullen. Nearly one hundred people came to learn how ACEs can affect brain development and have long-term effects on mental and physical health, and how we can mitigate their impact.
![]() They have been instrumental in helping us not only raise critical funds, but also were willing to volunteer in any way they could to help young people with a history in foster care. We can’t thank the Raleigh-Wake Chapter of Jack & Jill enough for their incredible support of our organization over the past year. Proceeds from this year’s event supported The Hope Center at Pullen. Deeper app for macEven the threat of hurricane force winds and downpours of rain this year didn’t stop anyone!Hundreds gathered to listen to our young people read poetry and showcase their art that they all created in an Art and Poetry Workshop that we offered in collaboration with Artopia and The Raleigh Review. And the Carolina Rollergirls worked tirelessly to wash cars that came by. We received the proceeds of the day, and are, as always, honored to have your support.We are thankful that the Raleigh-Wake Chapter of Jack & Jill of America, Inc chose us as their charity of the year and were honored to be part of the “Jack and Jill Ran Up the Hill” 5K run and 1 mile fun run for kids! Everyone enjoyed the race, and the food, dancing and jumpy houses after the race was finished.Village Motor Werks turned their garage into a benefit for The Hope Center, providing music, food, a car wash and fun for all.
